FIVE candidates will contest Campaspe Shire’s Kyabram ward next month.
All were invited to take part in a questionnaire with Henry Russell Longuehaye-Hooper the only candidate to refuse after being unable to access the questions in advance.
The rest of the responses are below in ballot order.
THERE is always room for improvement but certainly I think council has done a good job given the circumstances.
I THINK they have underestimated the value of smaller communities. The council has to work as a whole but the smaller communities are a big contributor to that if they feel empowered.
And I don’t think that has happened as much as it should have.
I HAVE only been there for 20 months so I do have a lot of learning to do. I think the intentions are right by all councillors but there has been times we need to be a little bit more strategic in some of the things we’ve done.
NO I don’t.
That was the main reason why I decided to stand again after being approached by a couple of councillors and community groups.
The governance issue has slipped in the last time frame. We need to get a better model promoted and used by the shire.
I think there’s also issues with community driven projects and community groups. Not for profits don’t get the appropriate level of support from council.
We need to review the level of support given and how it is given.
It’s hard to get people of committees, we don’t want to make it harder. We need to operate in a smarter way with a more community focus.
